 Task 1 Quality Management

Maricarmen Cayetano Ballesteros

What is Quality Management?

Act of overseeing different activities and tasks within an organization to ensure that products and services offered, as well as the means used to provide them, are consistent. It helps to achieve and maintain a desired level of quality within the organization.

What is the objective of Quality Management?

Ensure every time a process is performed, the same information, methods, skills and controls are used and applied in a consistent manner.

Which are the key components of Quality management? Describe in detail  each one.

  • Quality Planning: Process of identifying the quality standards relevant to the project and deciding how to meet them. Quality standards are important for any organization as they dictate the quality of products and services.

  • Quality Improvement: Change of a process to improve the confidence or reliability of the outcome.

  • Quality Control: Continuing effort to uphold a process’s integrity and reliability in achieving an outcome.

  • Quality Assurance: The systematic or planned actions necessary to offer sufficient reliability so that a particular service or product will meet the specified requirements.

  • Describe what Quality Management involves. (process)

A Quality Management Process is a set of procedures that are followed to ensure that the deliverables produced by a team are "fit for purpose". The start of the Quality Management Process involves setting quality targets, which are agreed with the customer. A "Quality Assurance Process" and "Quality Control Process" are then undertaken, to measure and report the actual quality of deliverables. As part of the Quality Management Process, any quality issues are identified and resolved quickly.

What does “Quality Improvement Methods” refer to? Explain in detail.

Quality improvement is a systematic, formal approach to the analysis of practice performance and efforts to improve performance.

What are the Quality Management principle that the International Standard  for Quality Management adopt? Write a description of each.

    ISO 9001

is defined as the international standard that specifies requirements for a quality management system.

    ISO 14001

specifies the requirements for an environmental management system that an organization can use to enhance its environmental performance.

    ISO 45001

specifies requirements for an occupational health and safety (OH&S) management system, with guidance for its use, to enable an organization to proactively improve its OH&S performance in preventing injury and ill-health.

    ISO 27001

is a specification for an information security management system. An ISMS is a framework of policies and procedures that includes all legal, physical, and technical controls involved in an organization’s information risk management processes.

      • What are the benefits of Quality Management?

    • better and consistent control of major business processes.

    • a better understanding of customer needs.

    • regulation of successful working practices.

    • improved risk management.

    • increased customer satisfaction.

    • improved participation of employees.
