1.What is Resource Management?
Resource management plan enables businesses to utilize the skilled workforce and improve profitability optimally. The company will also be able to optimize the management of both human and material resources in order to maintain a good structure and achieve its goals in a short period of time. Also, refers to the planning, scheduling, and future allocation of resources to the right project at the right time and cost.
2.Mention what is the importance of Resource Management in business.
1. Minimize project resource costs significantly: Managing resources is important, as well as knowing how to combine national and local resources in order to reduce costs and create projects that are distributed evenly across the right costs.
2. Improving effective/billable resource utilization: Resources can be mobilized from non-billable to billable and strategic work. Sometimes when resources are rolled off from projects, there isn’t any suitable work to engage them.
3. Bridge the capacity vs. demand gap proactively: Capacity and demand are issues that go hand in hand in a company. A well-structured demand study is beneficial for future planning.
4. Use scarce resources effectively in a matrix organization: The resource management process brings transparency in communication and hence facilitates to effectively share highly skilled resources in a matrix organization.
5. Monitor and improve organization health index: Employees look up to their leaders for their professional development. In addition, I believe that by setting an example, great things are achieved and goals can be reached within the company.
3.What are the Concepts and Components of Resource Management? Define them in detailed.
Resource scheduling: Resource scheduling involves identifying and allocating resources for a specific period to different project tasks.
Resource utilization: Measures the amount of time spent by the employees on different project tasks against their availability.
Resource forecasting: Helps managers predict resource utilization levels in advance and foresee the resources likely to end up on the bench.
Resource and capacity planning: Comprehensive process of planning, forecasting, allocating, and utilizing the workforce most efficiently and intelligently. Also is an undertaking to analyze and bridge the capacity and demand gap.
4.What are the advantages of resource management?
Provides an overview of everyone and everything involved in the project, enables utilization of planning more projects. It also makes the planning and management process more transparent, helps to see the problems before they start and allows the organization to be prepared for any issue and gives the right control over a project.
5.What are the skills that every resource manager should have? Explain each in detail.
1. Communication skills: Being able to communicate effectively is perhaps the most important of all life skills. It is what enables us to pass information to other people, and to understand what is said to us.
Developing communication skills can help all aspects of life, even more in a professional life to social gatherings and everything in between.
